Fulton Hogan & Egis Awarded Operation & Maintenance Services For Stage 3 Of Australia’s Largest Road Infrastructure Project, WestConnex

The Fulton Hogan and Egis joint venture (Fulton Hogan Egis O&M ‘FHE’) has been awarded the contract to provide operation and maintenance services for the Sydney’s WestConnex Stage 3. FHE will now service all sections of Australia’s largest road infrastructure project.

WestConnex Stage 3 comprises of the M4-M5 Link and the Rozelle Interchange. The M4-M5 Link Tunnels will be 7.5km tunnels linking the M4 at Haberfield with the M8 at St Peters. The Rozelle Interchange connects the M4-M5 Link to the Anzac and Iron Cove bridges, and the future Western Harbour Tunnel and Beaches Link. The Rozelle Interchange is being built almost entirely underground, freeing up space for a new 10ha regional park.

When complete in 2023, WestConnex will provide motorists with a continuous, 33km traffic-light free motorway network, with connections for future projects linking the north shore and northern beaches, Sydney Airport and the southern suburbs.

“Fulton Hogan is proud to deliver the operation and maintenance services for this significant and critical piece of infrastructure for communities in Sydney, alongside our long-term partner Egis,” said Glenn Johnson, Fulton Hogan General Manager Asset Management and Board member of FHE. “Working as one contractor delivering the operation and maintenance for WestConnex ensures the safe and efficient upkeep of the tunnel and open road network.”

“The network approach to delivering integrated O&M services across all three stages of WestConnex will increase motorway availability and unlock service efficiencies that will contribute to a safe and reliable journey for motorists,” said Michael Stephens, Egis Projects Asia Pacific Managing Director and Board member of FHE.

The contract award for Stage 3 follows the achievement of several critical milestones, including the successful services commencement on Stages 1 and 2:

  • WestConnex M4, consisting of the 5.5 km M4 Tunnels (2019) and the M4 Widening project (2017)
  • M5 East, a 10 km motorway including two 4 km tunnels and a smaller 550 metre tunnel (2020)
  • WestConnex M8, 9km of twin tunnel and open motorway interchange and ramps (2020).

Fulton Hogan and Egis would like to thank our client WestConnex | Transurban and our team at FHE for their continuous support, collaboration and pursuit of operational excellence.
