22 January 2025:
We are particularly proud of our Bay of Plenty Regional Manager, Anita Varga, recipient of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the King’s New Year’s Honours for advancing opportunities in the construction sector.
Fulton Hogan’s first female regional manager, Anita is deeply committed to helping women achieve their potential by creating an environment that welcomes diversity. She mentors and guides women into leadership roles and supports leaders in motivating young men and women into the construction industry. Passionate about personal development and growth, she has encouraged multiple women into tertiary qualifications. Anita is shown below with members of her Bay of Plenty leadership team.
Anita has been the National Chair of the National Association of Women in Construction New Zealand (NAWIC) since 2022 and is closely involved in the annual NAWIC Excellence Awards that recognise and celebrate women in construction. In 2021, Anita won NAWIC’s supreme Helen Tippett Award.
“To be recognised with an Order of Merit says so much about Anita’s qualities, the example she sets and the results she achieves,” says Fulton Hogan NZ Chief Executive, Ben Hayward.
“For someone who shines light on others, we are delighted for Anita that the light is now so deservedly on her.”
The New Zealand Order of Merit is for people “who have rendered meritorious service to the Crown and nation or who have become distinguished by their eminence, talents, contributions or other merits”.
