M80 Project Opens Ahead Of Schedule

The Fulton Hogan M80 Project has successfully opened all lanes between Sunshine Avenue and Calder Freeway ahead of schedule.

A three-kilometre corridor on the M80 Ring Road has been widened – from two to four lanes from Sunshine Avenue to the EJ Whitten Bridge and from three to five lanes across the EJ Whitten Bridge right through to the Calder Freeway.

Project Director Matthew Dinnison said “I’m so proud of the Fulton Hogan team for successfully delivering this amazing project. Thanks to all our suppliers, subcontractors and consultants that supported us in this fantastic adventure”.

The final stage of the project involves surfacing of asphalt scheduled between late spring and early summer. Motorists will travel on a temporary surface at a reduced 80km/h speed limit for a short time until overnight temperatures warm up allowing for the final asphalt to be laid.

The team have worked over 675,000 construction hours laying 60,000 tonnes of asphalt, 36,000 tonnes of concrete and 4,000 tonnes of steel. Congratulations to everyone involved for delivering this significant project achievement.
