Connecting The Marlborough Community With Workplace Safety

Around 400 visitors turned up to a family day hosted by our Marlborough team at the Renwick crusher facility, in New Zealand’s South Island.

The team invited families from the local community to come along to learn about safety in the workplace and help raise some money for the charity to help raise money for the Life Education Trust. Life Education is a charity that provides children across New Zealand with the knowledge to make informed choices about their health.

Marlborough SQTE Manager, Jo Prigmore, said safety was very much the focus of the day.

“The event was held in conjunction with our annual safety day onsite,” said Jo.

“We thought it’d be a great way for families from the community to come along to see what we do and to educate children on the importance of safety in the workplace by teaching them how to keep safe around plant and equipment,” she said.

Under the supervision of the Marlborough team, children hopped on diggers, loaders and other plant and learnt about blind spots and what to look out for when near moving plant.

“It was a great way to illustrate the importance of safety and to engage with our local community.” she said.
