Fulton Hogan To Create New Regional Glass Processing Hub With Grant From The Recycling Victoria – Recycling Modernisation Fund

Fulton Hogan has been awarded $740,000 under the Recycling Victoria – Recycling Modernisation Fund.

The Fund is delivered by Sustainability Victoria under the Australian Government’s Recycling Modernisation Fund and the Victorian Government’s Recycling Victoria Infrastructure Fund.

The grant was awarded in January and will support Fulton Hogan to create a new regional glass processing hub in Lara, which will recycle glass for use in local roads.

This grant was one of 13 successful projects funded through the Recycling Victoria – Recycling Modernisation Fund that will improve Victoria’s plastics, glass and tyre recycling infrastructure. These projects will increase the State’s recycling capacity by over 137,000 tonnes each year and create up to 204 local jobs.

General Manager of Fulton Hogan Infrastructure Services, Peter Curl, said, “Construction of the new processing facility at our existing Lara asphalt plant facility will commence later this year, with an opportunity for up to 2 new jobs to be created through the construction and operation of these new facilities.”

“Once up and running we’ll be sourcing up to 10,000 tonnes of glass per year from Geelong and other local councils areas to be used in our asphalt products and laid on local roads. This initiative provides a local reuse option for local recovered materials and strengthens the availability of sustainable solutions and local manufacturing in the Geelong area.”

Fulton Hogan has another glass processing hub at Warrnambool and also uses recycled car tyres and plastics in some of their asphalt products.

The company’s product portfolio centres on developing and delivering quality, innovative products and services for their clients, with a strong focus on the circular economy principles of: waste utilisation, reuse, recycling and repurposing.

This new grant helps Fulton Hogan and the local community continue their journey to a sustainable future that creates, connects and cares for communities.

“We’re proud to be a part of the transformation of Australia’s waste and recycling industry and to support Victoria’s transition to a circular economy by increasing the capacity and capability of our State’s recycling sector,” said Peter Curl.
