Cardinia Road, Pakenham – Level Crossing Removal
The level crossing at Cardinia Road, Pakenham was removed in December 2020, with traffic now safely travelling over the new road bridge.
These works were delivered by Metropolitan Roads Program Alliance (MRPA), made up of Alliance partners Fulton Hogan, Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM), and the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP).
More than 23,000 vehicles travelled through the Cardinia Road level crossing each day, where the boom gates held up traffic for a third of the morning peak.
The project was delivered ahead of the original 2021 completion date reducing congestion and improving safety for the growing community and surrounding suburbs.
