The level crossing at Clyde Road, Berwick is being removed by building a road underpass beneath the rail line.

These works are being delivered by Metropolitan Roads Program Alliance (MRPA), made up of Alliance partners Fulton Hogan, Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM), and the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP).

The project will also deliver an upgraded bus interchange at Berwick Station and new walking and cycling connections.

The boom gates at Clyde Road are down for nearly a third of the two-hour morning peak, disrupting the 22,000 drivers who travel through the crossing every day.

Replacing this level crossing with a road underpass beneath the rail line will ease congestion and improve safety for emergency services, drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.
