IMEX Intermodal Terminal 1
Qube is developing the Moorebank Intermodal Logistics Park in Moorebank, Sydney, NSW.
IMEX (Import-Export) IntermodalTerminal 1 – Construction was one of the packages of works that formed part of this project. It consisted of the construction of an open access import-export300,000m3 freight terminal. with a 250,000 TEU capacity (and with an ultimate capacity of up to 1.05m TEU per annum), as well as truck interchange areas. Also included were infrastructure works and roads construction.
Fulton Hogan’s scope of works included:
• Construction of heavy duty terminal pavements for heavy straddle traffic and for truck and forklift roadways
• Earthworks including ground improvements and retaining structures
• Maintenance and protection of existing services
• Traffic management
• Stormwater drainage infrastructure including swale drains, pumps, trenching and kerbing
• Installation of lead in services including power, water, sewer, fire and telecommunications infrastructure
• Installation of box culverts and junction pits
• PCP and JRCP concrete pavement placement
• Construction of an administration building and facilities.
Following team’s good performance on the original contract, the scope has increased to include the Precinct Infrastructure Works East (PIWE) – a bulk earthworks and infrastructure package which forms part of the Moorebank Precinct East (MPE) development, enabling subsequent warehouse development. A separate package for managing the Automation Interface Works was also added. This involves working with Qube to deliver key elements of the automation works that fall outside of the other key supply contracts, such as the high, low voltage and communications cable installation, modification of the terminal infrastructure to suite the new Kalmar cranes, and Straddle carriers and trucking operations. These works will assist Qube to complete the automation and commissioning of the terminal as planned.
