Southern Apron Expansion (SEA), Tullamarine Airport
This project extended Fulton Hogan’s long-standing involvement at Tullamarine Airport. It was divided into two main areas of work, the Southern Apron Expansion and the Sierra Apron Infill.
Work was carried out in a live airside environment with no unplanned impact on aircraft operations, including during the Christmas period – the result of complex programme sequencing.
Our success was due in part to an experienced team managing robust plans for the safety of all involved while delivering quality outcomes that exceeded our client’s expectations.
Key achievements included:
- 27,000m2 of asphalt and 110,000m2 of PCC works completed while setting a new standard in quality including better testing procedures and detailed reporting to the client.
- No lost time injuries, despite over 500,000 hours worked in an operational environment, within tight timeframes.
- Sierra Apron Infill opened for operations over a year in advance of the contracted end date.
- Completing all work within budget, including agreed variations to scope.
