The Inlet Works Odour Upgrade was carried out as part of an ongoing SEW initiative to contain fugitive odour emissions from the inlet works, primary sedimentation tanks and anoxic tanks. The treatment of the odour was completed by the removal and upgrade of the existing Bio Trickling Filter (BTF) and associated ductwork.

Fulton Hogan, as part of the FHDB Joint Venture, worked with the plant operations team to deliver the rehabilitation works which included:

• New Extraction ductwork including dampers from screen area channels to the new BTF
• Installation of new covers to screen areas to achieve negative pressure
• New pipework ventilation loop
• New BTF, recirculation pump, instrumentation and nutrient dosing
• Installation of Activated Carbon Filters and heater
• Inspection, testing and refurbishment of existing Bio Tower structure
