SH73 Weedons Ross Road Intersection Improvements

Client: NZTA Waka Kotahi
Duration: June 2022 – July 2023

Scope of Works:

The scope of works included clearing of vegetation including a large block of established trees, stormwater and stock water race piping including basins, road widening, installing traffic signals and street lighting, pavement construction including the construction of a greenfield road and roundabout, road marking and landscaping. Another requirement of the contract was coordination with Utilities (Chorus, Vodafone, Orion) who were in the process of putting the over head services underground.

Initial stakeholder communication occurred from award of the contract. Once a plan and programme were agreed upon by all affected parties (Fulton Hogan management, NZTA Waka Kotahi, Selwyn District Council and stakeholders) works could begin. The site was split up into two zones between SH73, Northern Weedons Ross Rd works (Zone A) and the more ‘local’ road work for Weedons Ross Rd South and West Melton Rd (Zone B).
