Te Ara Ihutai Christchurch Coastal Pathway

Duration: November 2021 – December 2023
Scope of Works:
Separable Portion 1 – Western pathway works (build only)
These works included construction of new rock revetment, pathway and a 4m asphalt path, some roading works (pedestrian crossing island and intersection modifications), demolition of an existing stone wall and construction/widening of an existing bridge structure.
Separable Portion 2 – Relocation and realignment of water and wastewater reticulation (design and build)
These works included design of and relocation/diversion of water and wastewater services to enable further structural elements and removal, replacement and abandonment of certain mains.
Separable Portion 3 – Realignment of Orion services and communication services reticulation (build only)
These works involved co-ordination with Orion and Connetics, provision of trenching for the diversion of cables, backfilling and temporary surface. restoration
Separable Portion 4 – Central and eastern pathway works (build only)
Construction of new rock revetment or anchorblock wall and a 4m path, some roading works (pedestrian crossing and intersection modifications), demolition and rebuild of existing wall, car park works (kerbs, landscaping and surfacing), in-road works (elements of car park works and new pedestrian crossing island) and service relocations near bend where services clash with anchorblock tie backs.
From Boat Sheds to Shag Rock (from the 740m mark to the 1,100m mark):
Construction of a new structure and 4m path, large in situ concrete foundation and concrete panels forming the path, pre-cast f-type barrier to separate path from road and some roading works (construction of a pedestrian crossing island).
